Posted on July 21, 2012 by Vielle + Frances Contributor | 0 comments

One of the new color trend for Fall 2012 is Titanium. Mixing it up with a silvery grey-white metallic would lighten up such a dark color pallet as to not make it look like an actual cave. Fashion designer Charlotte Ronson incorporated this color in her Fall 2012 collection in which she also added a pop of color to spruce up this color.

Styling Your Room

1. Stephan Antique Mirror Room Screen 2. Walnut and Gold Desk by Jonathan Adler 3. Nefret Chair  4. Ulu Concave Table by Jonathan Adler

So perhaps you’ve just splurged on one of our fabulous sofas in brown, beige or cream, or you threw caution to the wind that funky electric blue sofa you’ve pin on Pinterest and have been drooling over for months. Now what? What goes? Well if you call over to the color gods over at Pantone, according to their Fall 2012 Interior Design color report – one of the top color trends for fall is Honey Gold. Basically it’s yellow at first glance, but we’re way more innovative then that right? Yellow? Oh but won’t just stick brown and yellow together and look boring, right? No way, never, definitely not a Vielle + Frances shopper. We’ll put beautiful gold accents like an intense gold Stephan Antique Mirror Room Screen and a Walnut and Gold Jonathan Adler Desk to complement. Then head on over to the chairs department and avoid picking a match-y accent chair in a depressing neutral. Instead we’ll go with the Nefret Chair that strikes a serious pose next to that ultra chic new sofa, that also adds drama and intensity to get your guests tongues wagging about “WHERE DID YOU GET THAT CHAIR FROM?” Copycats, I know. Just flick your wrist and tilt your head up high and say “Vielle + Frances New York”. Not that big box store in your local town mall…Pretentious, no, style confident, yes!

Mix + Match

Posted on July 18, 2012 by Vielle + Frances Contributor | 0 comments

1.Trellis Outdoor Pillow (more colors available) 2. Set of 3 Canisters (Sold Out) 3. Dorothy Cabriole Leg Solid Wood Table 4. Sonia Soft Cyan Blown Glass Lamp

Mixing and matching colors make products stand out in a way that creates a beautiful ambiance.  The mix of green and light blue makes this soft hue of aqua (aka cyan). It's both soothing and pretty yet soft and colorful. The Trellis Outdoor Pillow and the Sonia Soft Blown Glass Lamp make an ideal match but the Dorothy Cabriole Table is a neutral base in this match. This pop of color makes it easier on those who aren't a big fan of color.

A plethora of practical ideas for home improvement. Using interiors created by designers and decorators from all over the world, and incorporating the latest in furniture and object design, this book is a treasure trove of ideas for decorating the home, whether a house in the woods, an airy urban loft, or a post-collegiate studio. Aimed at a general audience, it offers hundreds of useful ideas, tips, suggestions, advice, and solutions for anyone interested in decorating a first-time home or remodeling an existing space. The book begins with an overview of space, lighting, color, and furniture and continues with a thorough review of the options available when considering flooring, wall coverings, window treatments, color schemes, incorporating furniture, and lighting for every room of the home. "Do and do not" tips are sprinkled throughout, and this sourcebook of inspirational ideas and themes addresses even the toughest design challenges on the road to transforming any space, big or small. Beautiful photographs, drawings, and informative sidebars make this volume a one-stop basic resource for interior design.

An indispensable source of inspiration and insightful advice for anyone undertaking home design or redecoration on any scale or budget. Kelly Hoppen is a world-renowned designer who has pioneered a simple yet opulent style that has won her numerous accolades and awards for her stunning interiors. While her designs are best known for symmetry, straight lines, and neutral color, she also pioneered softening strict minimalism with rounded, feminine forms, splashes of color, and fusing vintage and modern pieces for greater depth and patina. Her latest book is the summation of her twenty-five-year career in which she brings together all the strands of her trademark style and offers a unified vision of creating great interiors. The heart of this highly visual and inspirational book is a room-by-room master class, which includes checklists and expert advice for approaching interior design no matter the shape, size, or unique hurdles of a room. A combination of illustrative sketches, mood boards, and evocative photographs illustrates how to turn a concept into reality. Design decisions and dilemmas are covered, from assessing a room, reconfiguring space, and dealing with awkward layouts to planning lighting, choosing materials, and positioning furniture. The book features unique editorial elements and design devices throughout: "inspiration boxes," specific problems and solutions, and a special feature called "blank canvas transformed," which shows a sample space designed in several ways highlighting the effect of different styles, moods, and approaches.
